What we think i…

What we think is less than what we know: what we know is less than what we love: what we love is so much less than what there is. And to that precise extent we are so much less than what we are. – R. D. Laing

I look like a neon zebra shaking rain off her stripes

My cheeks were reflecting the longest wavelength
My fan was folded up and grazing my forehead
And I kept touching my neck to guide your eye to where
I wanted you to kiss me when we find some time alone

My scars were reflecting the mist in your headlights
I look like a neon zebra shaking rain off her stripes
And the rivulets had you riveted to the places that
I wanted you to kiss me when we find some time alone

[Hook]
And then we can do anything we want X3

Started out sippin’ the water
And now we try to swallow the wave
And we try not to let those bastards get us down
We don’t worry anymore
Cause we know when the guff comes we get brave
After all, look around, it’s happening, it’s happening, it’s happening now

Let’s pretend we’re eight years old playin’ hooky
I draw on the wall and you can play UFC rookie
Then we’ll grow up, take our clothes off and you remind me that
I wanted you to kiss me when we find some time alone

[Hook]

What a great interview with Supreme court justice Sonia Sotomayor. Many memorable quotes ( e.g. “Well-behaved women don’t make history.”) and insights given on what it takes to be apart of the law making crowd. I will be adding her memoir “My beloved world” to my to read list.

Just hang on, hang on to the vine Stay on, soon you’ll be divine

The sun has left and forgotten me
It’s dark, I cannot see
Why does this rain pour down
I’m gonna drown
In a sea
Of deep confusion

Somebody told me, I don’t know who
Whenever you are sad and blue
And you’re feelin’ all alone and left behind
Just take a look inside and you will find

You gotta hold on, hold on through the night
Hang on, things will be all right
Even when it’s dark
And not a bit of sparkling
Sing-song sunshine from above
Spreading rays of sunny love

Just hang on, hang on to the vine
Stay on, soon you’ll be divine
If you start to cry, look up to the sky
Something’s coming up ahead
To turn your tears to dew instead

And so I hold on to this advice
When change is hard and not so nice
If you listen to your heart the whole night through
Your sunny someday will come one day soOoon to you :)

The Bechdel Test

Wow. A really great ted talk that opens the issue of the NYT article on how nearly 1 in 5 women in the U.S. have been sexually assaulted. In using the Bechdel Test it might help in producing a less morally corrupt society & develop more connectedness with men and women.  Picture 1Oh and you can checkout http://bechdeltest.com/for a list of movies that fall under the Bechdel criteria. Cheers!

“The Universe maybe growing like a human brain.”

Mind boggling to think that the universe is expanding like our brains. What if we & the universe are one big Brain growing and evolving together? will that mean that the more we work together as Earthlings the more we can know about the universe and can enhance it? Sounds self evident yet extremely marvelous. Here is the Live Science article that fully discusses the theory in more depth.

“Today we come …

“Today we come across an individual who behaves like an automaton, who does not know or understand himself, and the only person that he knows is the person that he is supposed to be, whose meaningless chatter has replaced communicative speech, whose synthetic smile has replaced genuine laughter, and whose sense of dull despair has taken the place of genuine pain. Two statements may be said concerning this individual. One is that he suffers from defects of spontaneity and individuality which may seem to be incurable. At the same time it may be said of him he does not differ essentially from the millions of the rest of us who walk upon this earth.”
—- Erich Fromm

Reading the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey, came across this insightful quote that I wanted to share. Although the book was written about a decade ago a lot of the insights still ring true in todays society.

“The human body can think, play the piano, kill germs, remove toxins, and make a baby all at the same time. “

If you’re in a place of instability Deepak Chopra is a great guide in helping you find your inner strength. I highly recommend his readings. The 10 keys to happiness described below are from his video on balancing your body (also stated in this link), which has helped me tremendously as I am going through my own stint of instability. I have yet to conquer these 10 keys, as I am still working on them and feel it takes a lifetime to really achieve; but I am blogging about it in hopes these keys will help anyone else out there who could use a bit of stability like me.

10 keys to happiness

1) Be aware of your body:

Your body is constantly monitoring everything: The human body can think, play the piano, kill germs, remove toxins, and make a baby all at the same time. Image

2) Choicelessness awareness: go with the flow.

    Awareness is always choiceless.

3) Embrace silence

Ex: meditation Image

4) Relinquish your need for external approval.

You alone are the judge of your worth, and your goal is to discover infinite worth in yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks. There is great freedom in this realization.

5) Get rid of your toxic decision making:

Ex:  “Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies”

          — Nelson Mandela

6) Total knowledge of yourself.

We think we are seeing the world but we are really seeing ourselves in the world.

Image

7)  Dont judge others and don’t judge yourself.

Ex: Thank you god for making me myself.  Embrace your shadow.

 Image

8) Remove toxins from your life.

9) Replace fear based behavior thinking with love base thinking.

Separation vs. Unity

Ask yourself : Is this going to cultivate the experience of unity(spontaneous evolution) or separation (delusion fear anxiety)?

10) Cultivate witnessing awareness. I am the alert witness of my body and mind.

Ex: Witness yourself as in a movie.
